The normal concept of a long exposure image is to let the motion of your subject create the effect (see the image from Week 1), so naturally I had to invert that and see what would happen if I used a static subject and let the lens do the moving instead. There were quite a few variations I got with the effect depending on if I started at the wide end of the focal length and moved in or started with the narrow end and moved out, smooth motion vs stepped motion, and a couple of other settings changes, but I liked this one the best in the end.
Now if I wanted to sound like a real artist, I would probably say something about how the clock is a metaphor for how time flies and that life is short etc etc., but the truth is I just needed something to hang the lights around to get the effect and the clock seemed like the easiest to work with that I had on hand.
